Spiritual Growth: the Spiritual Challenge of Modern Times


To grow spiritually in a world defined by power, money, and influence is a Herculean task.

Modern conveniences such as electronic equipments, gadgets, and tools as well as entertainment through television, magazines, and the web have predisposed us to confine our attention mostly to physical needs and wants.

As a result, our concepts of self-worth and self-meaning are muddled.

How can we strike a balance between the material and spiritual aspects of our lives?

To grow spiritually is to look inward.

Introspection goes beyond recalling the things that happened in a day, week, or month. You need to look closely and reflect on your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and motivations.

Periodically examining your experiences, the decisions you make, the relationships you have, and the things you engage in provide useful insights on your life goals, on the good traits you must sustain and the bad traits you have to discard.

Moreover, it gives you clues on how to act, react, and conduct yourself in the midst of any situation. Like any skill, introspection can be learned; all it takes is the courage and willingness to seek the truths that lie within you. Here are some pointers when you introspect: be objective, be forgiving of yourself, and focus on your areas for improvement.

To grow spiritually is to develop your potentials.

Religion and science have differing views on matters of the human spirit. Religion views people as spiritual beings temporarily living on Earth, while science views the spirit as just one dimension of an individual.

Mastery of the self is a recurring theme in both Christian (Western) and Islamic (Eastern) teachings. The needs of the body are recognized but placed under the needs of the spirit.

Beliefs, values, morality, rules, experiences, and good works provide the blueprint to ensure the growth of the spiritual being.

In Psychology, realizing one’s full potential is to self-actualize.

Abraham Maslow identified several human needs: physiological, security, belongingness, esteem, cognitive, aesthetic, self-actualization, and self-transcendence.

William James earlier categorized these needs into three: material, emotional, and spiritual. When you have satisfied the basic physiological and emotional needs, spiritual or existential needs come next.

Achieving each need leads to the total development of the individual.

Perhaps the difference between these two religions and psychology is the end of self-development:

Christianity and Islam see that self-development is a means toward serving God, while psychology view that self-development is an end by itself.

To grow spiritually is to search for meaning.

Religions that believe in the existence of God such as Christianism, Judaism, and Islam suppose that the purpose of the human life is to serve the Creator of all things.

Several theories in psychology propose that we ultimately give meaning to our lives.

Whether we believe that life’s meaning is pre-determined or self-directed, to grow in spirit is to realize that we do not merely exist. We do not know the meaning of our lives at birth; but we gain knowledge and wisdom from our interactions with people and from our actions and reactions to the situations we are in. As we discover this meaning, there are certain beliefs and values that we reject and affirm. Our lives have purpose. This purpose puts all our physical, emotional, and intellectual potentials into use; sustains us during trying times; and gives us something to look forward to---a goal to achieve, a destination to reach. A person without purpose or meaning is like a drifting ship at sea.

To grow spiritually is to recognize interconnections.

Religions stress the concept of our relatedness to all creation, live and inanimate. Thus we call other people “brothers and sisters” even if there are no direct blood relations.

Moreover, deity-centered religions such as Christianity and Islam speak of the relationship between humans and a higher being.

On the other hand, science expounds on our link to other living things through the evolution theory. This relatedness is clearly seen in the concept of ecology, the interaction between living and non-living things.

In psychology, connectedness is a characteristic of self-transcendence, the highest human need according to Abraham Maslow. Recognizing your connection to all things makes you more humble and respectful of people, animals, plants, and things in nature. It makes you appreciate everything around you. It moves you to go beyond your comfort zone and reach out to other people, and become stewards of all other things around you.

Growth is a process thus to grow in spirit is a day-to-day encounter. We win some, we lose some, but the important thing is that we learn, and from this knowledge, further spiritual growth is made possible.

Learning to know ourselves is an indispensable encounter task for spiritually growing and for to know our true reality. Our reality is based on our focalization point. Changing our point of focalization will change consequently our reality.

Everyone has his very own reality because Life is a state of mind. One has to know his real condition in this world, but our all-day consciousness does not allow us to recognize our true self's, so is it necessary to look inward in a very honest way for to discover our weaknesses our forces, our fears and sufferings.

Therefore meditation is the only way to know honestly ourselves and to grow spirituality. Only by loving ourselves can we love the creation and the others, since we're a part of this creation.

If we are not in peace with ourselves how could we be in peace with others?

Would You Like A Hypnotic Take-Away?


I can remember when I was very young that when my Mum was doing the weekly shopping and I was either being towed alongside or sat in the trolley, we would fall prey to the shops clever psychology of putting sweets next to the counter. Usually, I would grab a packet of the sweets with the most colourful wrapping. When my Mum took them off me and put them back on the shelf, I wanted them more. I wanted that exact packet even more!

When I take clients into hypnosis in my therapeutic practice, I sometimes use a method called the Elman method because it was created and pioneered by Dave Elman, one of the major influences on modern hypnotherapy. His method of inducing hypnosis had someone Relax really deeply, then have to open their eyes. Then, close them and Relax even deeper and then open them and close them to relax even deeper and so on.

It works very simply because the person being hypnotised gets a taste of the deep relaxation, then has to open their eyes and refocus and become aware of what's around them. Then when they get to relax and close their eyes again, they really embrace it and go for more of what they just had a taste of, until they are instructed to open their eyes again! Then, when they close their eyes again, they fully embrace the relaxation and plummet into a deep hypnosis state.

What I want to point out here with both of my examples is this idea of taking something away. An unconscious, hypnotic take-away if you will.

One of the reasons that many salespeople are not more successful is that they push too hard. I do not know anyone that enjoys being forced into something, do you? So, how about if you wanted to sell something, you actually took the sale away to get the sales prospect to sell it to themselves? Interesting idea, eh?

When I talk about the sale, this could be anything; a message, an idea, a date or an actual product or service.

Taking the sale away is best used to advise the prospect that they cannot make a purchase that they have little interest in making anyway. There is pretty much nothing to lose and very much to gain by using this simple idea. Taking the sale away works especially well when someone is being highly resistant to you, your message or your product.

I can remember once, in my hypnotherapy practice, I encountered someone that we diplomatically say has a "polarity response."

Basically, this person disagreed with most things anyone said and stated the opposite in reply. They said to me within 5 minutes of meeting me "I cannot be hypnotised." My initial thoughts were "well, what the heck are you seeing a hypnotherapist for? And a very expensive one at that!" I kept that thought under wraps though.

Instead, I said something along the lines of the following:

"Hmmm... maybe you are right, maybe you actually are one of the few people that actually can't be hypnotised. Maybe you are never going to know the comfort and enjoyment of hypnosis. Maybe you will always deny yourself the benefits of deeply relaxing hypnotic trance. I don't know, it's up to you. Maybe you are unsure of what hypnosis is like and maybe you are apprehensive because of all the myths that you hear about it.... as you allow yourself to relax more NOW though... you can drift into the right kind of state for you to experience it in the way that you choose..."

This guy was highly resistant and wanted to push against me. When I began to suggest that he cannot go into hypnosis, the only way to resist and do the opposite of what I suggested, was to go into hypnosis. You see, I took away the sale, so to speak.

What I also did, was to add some of the benefits of hypnosis. To make this technique even more effective, you can state some or lots of the benefits of the message, product or service. This further illustrates that this is something they will not enjoy or benefit from as a result of not buying into it.

A car salesperson might use this technique and say the following:

"I really can't recommend this car to you because I suspect it is more powerful than you need. It has a very powerful engine, faster acceleration yet consumes relatively little fuel, it is more than you need. Plus, it is designed to withstand much more use than you are going to give it. This really is a car for someone who drives a lot and needs a lot of power."

Lots of people go weak at the knees at this kind of suggestion and want it there and then.

Since this salesperson is not being pushy, there is nothing to resist. The salesperson is not pushing against the prospect, so the prospect does not need to push back. Some people will respond by then preventing the salesperson from taking the sale away and invest in the product, service or idea. They sell themselves on it.

The worst case scenario here is that the prospect actually agrees with you and says "you are right, that car is too powerful for me and my requirements." The salesperson still wins. The sales person can now progress to asking about what would actually suit them and match those needs to another car. What's more, the prospect now appreciates the sales persons honesty and is far more likely to trust them and buy something else from them.

This is not to be used all the time in every situation of course. Think carefully about how you use it in your communication.

I believe that it is extremely important to be truthful when delivering a message or wanting to sell and product or service, so I recommend that you never say something will meet a prospects needs - unless you genuinely believe it is so.

See how you can use this in your life, your communication, your work; use the unconscious take away and see how people respond, I think you'll find yourself becoming more and more influential as a result.

If you uncaring and irresponsible you pull to you all sorts that will treat you erratically and let you down. If you are out of control emotionally and inattentive, you slip off the sidewalk and sprain your ankle; if you stay in control and focused, you complete your journeys without incident.

If you are generous, people treat you warmly, if you are mean, life treats you more harshly. Your waking intellect bends reality to suit your personality. So quite naturally, you see and comprehend life and events as you want to see them, so you may not realize you are hard on people and yet you may wonder why life is hard on you. Karma is hidden. It doesn’t usually offer explanations you have to work things out looking inside yourself.

Beyond the intellect is your subconscious. Very few have much idea what their subconscious mind is or what information it contains. You will see it talking to you in your dreams but it may offer you such an incoherent hotchpotch of images and feelings, you haven’t much idea what it is saying.

The subconscious mind is more the ‘real’ you, as it doesn’t have the fake concoction of the waking intellect, it just accepts your feeling and ideas and impulses without the ability to alter them. Simply put you could say, beyond denial is the subconscious. It is the perpetual memory of everything that you are and all your innermost feeling. It’s your raw self.

Your intellect ceases when your brain stops functioning at death. But I believe your subconscious lives on in a mirror-world dimension, a parallel world and that is placed opposite to this one, right is left in the world of the subconscious mind. It effect, the subconscious is what we call ‘the soul’.

Jung discovered much about the collective unconscious. He said we are all linked by the same archetypes and symbols: mother, father, life, death, etc. I think Jung was right. We are all one-mind, and while you have your own karma, which is fairly instant, derived from balance and imbalance, you are also linked to a more distant ‘collective karma’ of your society or nation, and that is linked into an even more distant global karma.

Deep in the subconscious are your archetypal feeling and impulses: love, hate, equanimity, arrogance, each is a defined compartment; you could say each is a dimension of its ownbirds of a feather flock together in the subconscious realms. You drift into that part of the mirror-world that is comfortable for you. Where you go your long-term karma goes with you for your subconscious mind can pull to you a long-term individual karma many years in the becoming, as well as a more distant collective karma that belong to you as well as many others.

Your instant karma you can easily change by taking charge of your life and being more practical and living a healthier lifestyle, but your long-term collective karma is more trapping. You can’t escape that as easily unless you make moves very early on. For example, if you were a carpenter in Nagasaki in the 1940s, you had your daily instant karma, keeping your family fed say, but unbeknown to you a collective karma approached. If you were aware of your subconscious and that of people around you, you would have left Nagasaki and many thousands probably did. Others traveled there the day before the bomb. They came to join the collective unconscious department that accommodates for 200,000 incinerations in one day.

The trick to understanding the collective karma is to listen to what people are saying about their feelings and to watch their innermost impulses. If you watch the news you’ll see the national-ego running rampant. It’s all arrogance, disdain and self-interest. So you can see where the national karma might be headed. The trick is to uncouple from the collective feelings and try to discover who you really are? Do you agree with ideals being expressed or do you differ? What are your innermost feelings and impulses? You may discover that you like the shared impulses you see on the news, and if you do, you will have to accept the collective fate that that might create. The problem is you don’t know exactly where the collective fate will end up. Is it Nagasaki or Nirvana?

Here is an example the long-term karma of America is to go bankrupt. Americans consume more than the planet can provide, eventually the supply and demand lines will creek and fall apart. If you were a citizen hoping to avoid his or her karma you would consume less and make your ego’s needs less demanding, so you could easily handle a sudden down-turn. If you were sophisticated at karma avoidance you’d be thinking Nagasaki-style and you’d plan a move to safety.

America, realizing she would run out of oil, went to war to capture supply lines and resources belonging to others. The long-term karma of that is she will have no oil at all. It will be taken from her. In the subconscious you can see it quite obviously. So karma avoidance would be to get rid of the gas-guzzler while you still can and downsize to a small car or even a scooter or moped.

It is part of the British collective mind-set to be right, people are endlessly arguing, sustaining their need to be right. In Britain it is very much more important to be right than to be nice. So people are rather nasty to each other while pretending to be right and so its long-term karma is to be found to be terribly wrong. In then olden days honor and a gentleman’s or gentlewoman’s code of conduct was what held up the edifice of British life but now that code is lacking. So the country will rot and falter.

The trick to being British is to agree to be wrong and make changes now. If you go down the path of righteous-indignation you will fall as the country falls. The British feel they are very superior so their long-term karma is to become inferior. They will lose their economic status. If you don’t feel you are superior or right, and if status doesn’t bother you, the nation’s karma won’t bother you at all. They French think they are important so their long-term destiny is to be become irrelevant, funny eh?

Each of us has the option of going with the collective karma of our people, or you can vote “No” and walk in the other direction, but you have to make a move soon as a ‘collective karma’ is the most trapping and the least easy to escape from. That is because people don’t see it coming because it is the result of a ‘collective idea’ that everyone agrees to so that makes it seem right.

If you very reliant on others you are linked to their karma. The more you become self-sufficient and self-reliant, the more you are in your own karma and the easier life is to control. If you can’t make major changes make small ones.

Manifesting Abundance Though be Careful What You Wish For

What does it take to manifest abundance into someone’s life? For me manifesting joy takes no effort, there are so many simple things I get joy out of. As a matter of fact I lead quite an abundant simple life.

I’m talking more about big material things here like manifesting money - lots of it, business success, and living a contented life where everything’s taken care of.

Does attracting abundance take lots of meditation and positive affirmations or does it take a bit more than that? Is it as easy as setting an intention for abundance to materialise at our door step?

Well, meditation has, without a doubt, brought me inner peace and a change of perception. Positive affirmations set the mood for my day, and setting intentions enables me to goal set conceptually without getting caught up in every detail. These all work exceptionally well on a spiritual level.

What I do know that does work well in manifesting the big ‘stuff’ is: know what you want, focus, commitment, determination and the big one – do something. Also, if you’re not congruent with what you are trying to achieve, even if there’s a very, very tiny voice somewhere inside you wanting your attention, pay attention and listen. Work on what your inner voice is trying to tell you.

It may be a belief getting in the way. You might get all ‘fired’ up about an idea you have that’s totally new and just for an instant, you live your dream. What happens next takes a nanosecond. Doubt steps in, and fear and so the downward spiral begins until you’ve given up on the idea. This is an example of a negative belief getting in the way of what potentially could be a really, really great idea!

Your inner voice might also be telling you that you need to up-skill; meet more people; look more closely at what you truly value; or that it’s fear blocking your power to manifest. Sometimes we have a fear of not only failure but also fear of success.

On a more spiritual level manifesting abundance can take time, this depends of course on what it is you’re manifesting. As a matter of fact it can take an awful lot of time. An option would be to start something different, but what happens then is the wait for abundance begins…again…and possibly again.

Manifesting anything takes effort – sometimes a little and sometimes a lot, and then there are times ‘the guys upstairs’ (or maybe ‘the girls’ for you) deliberately place obstacles and blocks (including fear) in the way. This will test how serious, determined and creative you really are. It can be extremely demoralising and soul destroying to continually receive rejections for that book you want published, that CD you want to sing, that movie you’d like to star in. Have faith and trust in yourself that you can pull it off. You never know what’s around the corner.

If something doesn’t work, improve upon it, it may be that the only thing that needs changing is your perception. Get some coaching in – there are many types of coaching these days, there’s life coaching, business coaching, executive coaching, spiritual coaching, there’s me – transformational coaching, and many other types of coaching. Maybe get some meditation in.

There’s a flipside to all this manifesting. An expression I particularly love and has been true for me on occasion is ‘be careful what you wish for because you’re bound to get it’, and it may not be what you expect. Instead, your manifesting may bring an abundance of frustration and heartache with it.

Weigh up your wish list, look at what you’re trying to manifest with new eyes – and yes, ‘be careful what you wish for’, for it may not be what it seems.

I was puzzled for a long time, about UFO secrecy, I mean why is it classified as being Above Top Secret, with a level of classification higher then atomic bomb secrets. I can see why some of the secrecy exists, when it comes to developing new military aircraft and other such craft, as is needed for national security reasons.

But as I became more and more aware that the UFO - Alien enigma, was really a satanic and demonic plan, it became clear why the level of secrecy was so high. The main goal of the UFO - and Alien planners that are in the 'Know' of the plan, know that this is a battle for the souls of all mankind.

There are two main types of military personnel or groups that are involved with the UFO Phenomena, one group is those that are in the so called 'Know', these are the top brass that are communication one on one with the fallen angels, themselves and realize what the true UFO and Alien agenda is about. These men, or women, are promised and given earthly desires such as military powers, money, and numerous other gratuity for their service to these demonic forces. These men or women would quite probably be murdered or have their families kidnapped or worse if they revealed the true UFO agenda to the public. The fallen angels and demons masquerading as aliens, know that this agenda is a major part of the 'Great Deception' against Christians and Jesus Christ, and they will do anything they can to make their plans come about.

What is sad to me, is this is another reason I believe Jesus states in the Holy Bible, in Mark 8:36 - 'For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?', I ask anyone who is in the 'Know' about the UFO and Alien Agenda, to read that little passage over and over, and think about it. The time we all have on this Earth is very short, is a few years of earthly pleasure, worth an eternity in Hell. Why serve created beings, when you can serve the glorious Creator, and be on the winning side, remember Satan and his forces have already lost, their fate is sealed, don't make yours the same fate.

Another group is those that believe they are working along with real aliens from some other planet, and they will keep quiet because they are given technology, for their part of the service. This high ranking classified type of work, also gets power, money, etc. To revel this so-called alien technology to the public, would result in a dishonorable discharge from the military, losing ones pension or retirement funds, and quite possibly long prison sentences, or worse.

I believe the main source or plan for the UFO - Alien secrecy classification comes from Satan and his fallen angels, and the demons, then it filters down to the top leaders, and military commanders, and then those involved in the hidden, or black-operations as they are called. The government controls the media, so it's not hard to issue a disinformation campaign against those that report ufo accounts, especially when the government can pull or cancel a television stations license.

The veil of silence, secrecy, disinformation and ridicule is slowly being removed, as more and more UFO's are appearing around the world. This is because the world is slowly becoming brainwashed into thinking that UFO's and Aliens are real, in that we are being visited by real extraterrestrial beings from another planet. Once the mainstream of human consciousness becomes attuned to the alien (demonic) agenda, there will be a worldwide UFO event or unveiling, which I believe will be the 'Great Deception; that Jesus talked about in the Holy Bible.

The Quickest Way to Get Over the Flu

Modern medicine knows that people can come in contact with the germs that cause the flu and not get it due to a great immune system. What do colds have to do with the cold weather? Why is the flu season during the cold weather? What is the fastest way to get over the flu and how do you avoid them altogether?

If your immune system is strong enough then you will not get the flu. When a person's health is too low, the body's intelligence tries to raise it. Its job is to constantly try to make the person healthy and fit, not fat. Its only goal is the best health possible. But people have many other priorities like entertainment, fun, being sociable, making money and being admired.

So when your health (immune system) drops too low, the body's intelligence tries to force you to do something about it. Your health and immune system are proportional to how clean or free of toxins the body is. Toxins include the body's metabolic waste. The body is constantly getting rid of toxins but sometimes it gets backed up. Things that help the body detoxify are heavy sweating caused by heat or exercise, sleeping, fasting and eating a light and healthy diet. The opposite things, like lack of sleep, causes the body to get backed up with these toxins.

During cold weather people get less sunlight which means less vitamin D (which is good for the immune system). Also people sweat a lot less during the cold weather so saunas can help to cause more sweating. The skin is one of the 4 excretory organs of the body which also include the lungs, liver and kidneys. The colon is an organ of elimination. It is not an excretory organ since it is outside the body proper. That is medical talk.

With Bikrams Hot Yoga, you do Yoga exercise in a room that is 100 degrees Fahrenheit so this causes you to sweat a lot. Americans have a tendency to over eat and under sleep especially around the holidays. I saw on the forums before Thanksgiving that more people are asking about what to do about a cold.




So the body's intelligence allows you to get sick so you will do the things that you were unwilling to do, like taking off work, eating less and sleeping more. Then after the flu, you are healthier than you were before the flu. If you do not do these things then the flu can last a long time.

The quickest way to get over a cold or the flu is fasting, according to Mark Twain and I. That causes the body to detoxify at the fastest rate possible. The book, Prescription for Natural Healing (by James Balch M.D. and Phyllis Balch CNC), says "When you feel a cold or illness coming on or are just depressed-- fast!" If you can't fast, then just eat only fruit, especially fruits high in vitamin C, until you are better. Fruits require the least amount of digestive energy. You already know about getting plenty of rest and drinking enough fluids.

There is an easier type of fasting that has become very popular. Since it is easier and supplies vitamin C in a food form it may be better for colds and flus. When it comes to vitamin pills you should try to avoid them. Studies show that they act differently in the body than vitamins in foods. Ask yourself this. Since vitamin C pills are so cheap (about 8 cents each) and each one (500mg) contains the amount of vitamin C in 7 whole oranges, then no one should never get a cold or the flu. But the vitamin C in one whole orange is better for you than 100 vitamin C pills.

Try to buy organically grown produce until The USA becomes as civilized as Russia where it is against the law (a crime) to sell anything but organically grown produce. This alternate fast is discussed on the fasting webpage. It is called Master Cleanse, Lemonade Diet or the Master Cleanser Lemonade Fast. Lemon contains a lot of vitamin C like other citrus fruits (31 mg per lemon). This is an average since organic produce without pesticides has more nutrients than conventional produce. Ask your congressman when they are going to make produce with pesticides illegal since our little children consume them. This is a crime against humanity. Remember, that black people used to be property (slaves) in the USA that you could buy and sell and that was considered acceptable.

The Master Cleanse contains freshly squeezed lemon juice in water, maple syrup and a tiny bit of cayenne pepper. People can skip the cayenne altogether. It helps circulation but is not good for people with thin blood. For more on this, see my website Colds and the Flu.

How To Improve Willpower Through Writing Things Down: Decision Logging


In my post How to Strengthen Willpower Through Practice back in May, I mentioned how useful I’d been finding a practice I call “decision logging” in terms of building willpower, and I promised to give proper attention to the subject in the future. Here, after some delay, is that post.

Decision logging (”d-logging”) is a practice we can use to become more aware of what decisions come up for us during a normal day, how we are making those decisions, and what in our lives is influencing those decisions. The payoff of d-logging is that we become much more aware of what’s going on in our own bodies, minds, and environments–more mindful. Mindfulness is a powerful and central factor in improving willpower, because willpower means being able to make good decisions, and making good decisions requires understanding what’s going into them.

D-logging takes effort, but is very simple to do. All that’s required is to commit for a day at a time (preferably multiple days in a row for a total of at least a couple of weeks in total) to jotting down brief notes whenever

1. You notice you have a meaningful decision to make
2. You notice going on with yourself that may influence your decisions
3. You have any insights into your own behavior or thinking
By “meaningful decision,” I mean a decision that deals with an area in which you’re trying to improve your willpower or motivation. It’s not important to d-log about how you pick what to wear for the day or which radio station to listen to unless those are concerns of great importance to you.

The kinds of things that go into a d-log include:

■ Moods
■ Physical sensations, like hunger, fatigue, or comfort
■ Ideas or judgements about what’s going on, like “Everything seems to be going wrong this morning” or “I wish I could remember to be a little more Relaxed about driving”
■ When and how meaningful decisions are coming up
■ Anything else that might influence how you make those meaningful decisions
Writing these things down brings them to the forefront of your attention and causes you to see them clearly for at least a moment or two, and seeing them clearly makes it much easier to deal with them. For example, if you’re frustrated about problems you’re having with your car and later in the day find yourself treating coworkers badly, you may find through d-logging that it’s the car that’s really driving your decisions about how to deal with people. Once you recognize this, you may come to the conclusion that taking that frustration out on the people you work with isn’t what you want to do, and you can focus on dealing with your feelings about your car in a more constructive way.

You can d-log on a computer, on paper, or by any other means that suits you (I often use an Alphasmart), but actually writing things down is essential–it’s not enough for this practice to just kind of mentally note them. It’s also essential to be completely honest with yourself and not to leave things out because you feel preoccupied, anxious, embarrassed, or frustrated about them: those are often exactly the kinds of things that are most helpful to recognize.

Of course privacy can be a concern. If you need to, you can toss out what you’ve noted very soon after it’s written down–even immediately. It is very helpful to be able to look back over your decision logs and learn from them, but if your concerns about privacy would prevent you from doing it otherwise, it is true that just writing things down does that most important job of focusing your attention.

Plan to keep your log on days when making notes repeatedly throughout the day will be doable for you.

To d-log, start each day with a fresh file or piece of paper and put the date at the top. Jot down the time whenever you write something down after not having any entries for a while. This helps put things in a time framework, so that you can look back and notice how something you felt at 10:00 in the morning did or didn’t influence something you did at 2:00 in the afternoon.

No one else has to see your d-logs, although if you have someone you feel you can tell anything to and want their help, it could be enlightening to share. You might want to explain what you’re doing to various other people if you’ll be needing to do it around them a lot, but in some cases such an explanation may result in someone asking to see what you’re writing, and since your d-log is meant to be completely candid, this could be a problem.

Over even a relatively short time–days, or weeks–d-logging can help build practices of mindfulness and of thinking through decisions that we’re used to making automatically, acting on habits we may or may not like. The importance of understanding our own thoughts and feelings and how they bear on their decisions is hard to overstate.

If d-logging is highly impractical for you, fortunately there are other routes–though they may be longer or more difficult–to developing mindfulness, especially doing mindfulness meditation.

D-logging will take a certain amount of attention and commitment, but it’s not hard. One beautiful thing about d-logging that’s not true of many approaches to developing willpower is that you can use it to improve willpower in any number of areas at once. Normally if you want to work on self-motivation, it’s important to focus on one specific area, since lack of focus tends to make motivation fall apart. D-logging is different because you’re not concentrating on promoting a particular goal, but only on understanding yourself and your thinking better. Yet this kind of thinking tends to have immediate, noticeable results on achieving goals.

Don’t be too concerned if you start d-logging on a particular day and don’t do a good job of following through. Any of this practice you do, even if it’s not for a full day, helps, and it’s always possible to try and do better the next day.

While d-logging is particularly powerful in terms of developing willpower, there are also other kinds of logging and writing that can bolster motivation, and I’ll cover some of these in future posts.

Insomnia : the Frustration and the Danger

To many people, insomniacs can be the butt of many a cruel joke – somebody who is always yawning, always bumping into things, a ‘clumsy oaf!’, not being very aware of their surroundings, and generally ‘not with it’.

But such behavior, rather than being perceived as funny, can in reality cause death and destruction on a very wide scale. It is bad enough that over 200,000 car accidents a year in the United States alone are caused by drivers falling asleep at the wheel – but what if you are a passenger on a crowded train with an insomniac as the driver?

Insomnia is a common sleep sickness that has bothered many people around the world. But the consequences brought about by this disorder may not be as ordinary as it may seem. It can be downright punishing. However, like many previously dismissed conditions it has its roots in definable medical conditions, and if treated correctly, can be cured.

Lack of sleep actually poses dangers to your brain, and as your brain controls all of the functions of you body, sleep depravation may also damage them. For instance, studies have shown that sleep deprived person get sick more often, and may in many instances suffer financial hardships, as they are not capable of making clear, concise decisions.

You know the frustration of looking repeatedly at your clock while endlessly moving around in your bed. It's mental and emotional agony to say the least. The tension builds up to its peak when you see the sunrise, and you have to go to the office lacking so much energy after spending a sleepless night.

The problem is, most people reach for the pills when they can not sleep, thinking that this is the cure-all. However, lifestyle, stress, what and when you eat and drink, and even the amount of sunshine you get can all be contributory factors.

You don't have to suffer anymore. Here are some tips to help you snooze faster than you could ever expect.

1) Wake up and go to bed at the same time everyday, even during the weekends. Some insomniacs tend to sleep at any time of the day to catch up on some sleep they lose during the night. Now this is the biggest mistake you can make. It ruins your body clock and will only worsen your insomnia. If you can't sleep one night, get up the usual time the next morning. You'll be sleeping soundly like a baby the next night.

2) Don't eat within 4 hours before you go to bed. If in case you went hungry, try some crackers or light snack. But don't indulge in an "eat-all-you-can" feast right before bedtime. Your food won't be digested well, resulting in poor and uncomfortable sleep.

3) Don't drink caffeine or alcohol. Caffeine can obstruct your ability to sleep. Alcohol can make you drowsy, but it can wake you up in the middle of the night and bring you side effects that will hinder a continuous sleep process.

4) Relax and stay fit. Avoid having a stressful lifestyle. Exercise daily to release tension. Engage in breathing exercises to Relax your body. Most important of all, don't carry your problems or emotional baggage to sleep with you. Forget about it for the mean time. You can go back and solve your dilemma better the next day after a restful sleep.

5) Never force yourself to sleep. Trying your best to sleep requires some work. You don't want to work when you want to doze off. Sleep comes best if you are in a relaxed and comfortable state. Just lie down, relax, and let the sleeping fairy cast its spell upon you.

A variety of spiritual religions or feelings exist. A misconception is that spiritual beliefs are related to religion. Many times this is true but sometimes that is not the case. Meditation for Business Success

Years ago if you were in business and told someone you ‘meditated’ regularly you may of got the feedback that you were ‘strange’ in some way….this is not the case any longer. More and more people are catching onto the success that meditation can bring, not just in business but in any area in life.

There are many different forms of meditation from focusing on the breath, visualizations, Relaxation – where you focus on Relaxing on each part of the body, color meditation opening up the Chakras, and self Guided Meditation to name a few.

The key to using meditation in your business is firstly to find which style of meditation works and go from there. There are many books on meditation however reading about mediation is obviously not ‘doing it’. Practice is the key…Even if you only do five minutes per day, do it as part of your regular routine and you will see and feel improvements.

If you find the monkey mind chatter too much then a guided visualization CD may work best for you. There are many personal development coaches out there with amazing meditation CD’s such as Louise Hay, Doreen Virtue, Wayne Dyer and Ester and Jerry Hicks just to name a few.

For those who have been meditating for sometime focusing on the breath works well and helps to clear the space for new thoughts and insights to arise.

One of the keys to making meditation useful for business success is to set your intention for your meditation before you begin. For example you may require some insight on advertising ideas for your business. So you set that intention by writing this intention down prior to beginning. It’s a good idea to keep some form of a journal for your meditation so if needed you can refer back. The primary focus of the meditation is to ‘relax’ your mind not to try and ‘stop’ the thoughts from coming through. As the thoughts come through just allow them without judgment and continue to focus on your breathing, or color, or visualization you decided.

After completion of your meditation journal some brief notes on what you experienced. The key here is just to write, not to judge or be focused on you’re what you’re writing just let it flow out.

At this stage I always do some Re – Sourcing to ask for assistance on my meditation and success in my business. I like to use guidance cards again many personal development coaches have produced these. They can be found in most book stores these days. Purchase the ones that feel right for you. So I choose one card and that will be part of my Re – Sourcing for the day. For example I may pick the card ‘Patience’ so during the day I remain on being patient and take time to review my options – in this example of what type of advertising I will do for my business.

I’m not surprised if further guidance and information has come through and landed for me the next morning! Perhaps our ancestors had it all right when wanting an answer to a challenge; they said ‘sleep on it’ the answer will be there when you wake up – so often the case! This happens because the conscious mind rests during sleep allowing the sub conscious mind to process need information to download into the conscious mind. Very similar to meditation indeed!

The keys to meditating for business success are practice, journaling and Re- Sourcing this way you get further insights to what you need to do to create success, not just in business but in all areas of life.


What is Reiki?

Reiki is an ancient form of energy healing in which a properly attuned Reiki Practitioner serves as a conduit for Universal Life Force (or ReiKi). The Reiki practitioner opens them self up as a conduit for a semi-sentient energy summoned from a higher source to facilitate healing or correct a person’s aura. The Reiki Practitioner is not a healer per se – but the energy moves through them to work with the recipient’s higher will in correcting imbalances and treating situations from the core causal point rather than the effect. This is thought to have a beneficial effect on the body, mind, and spirit, emotional and in Indian systems - the Chakra system.

Everything in the universe is thought to have an underlying energy that gives it form, structure, health, strength and autonomy. This invisible, but formidable force is called the Chi by Chinese mystics and martial artists and referred to as Prana by Indian masters and healers. It is also called “orgone energy” and the practice itself is also described by the names Chi Gong and Polarity therapy. Whatever you want to call it, the word Reiki literally means “Universal Life Force.” Reiki is capable of healing anything because it works at very fundamental levels of reality. The level of reality where Reiki operates is the underlying energy structure of matter, as the physical matter we see around us is a solidified form of energy.

The health, flow and strength of this force are thought to be affected by our thoughts. Think negative thoughts and manifest diseases and unfortunate events. Think positive thoughts and good health and good fortune. Think nothing and achieve bliss. Reiki is really about helping those who are stuck in self, access the healing energies of a higher power. In some ways too, Reiki can be called an active, ritualistic form of prayer.

A Reiki healing is a very simple, and quite religious act of faith. In essence, the Reiki Healer or Master can be seen as a channel or vessel for the transformative power of God’s love. The practitioner places his or her hands upon the person to be healed with the intent for healing to occur, and then the energy begins flowing. Into the afflicted part of the body, without any judgement or thoughts from the Reiki Master. The healer draws exactly the amount of needed energy to the recipient. There is no conscious intervention or appeal on the part of the healer who are there to keep the “healing space” open between the diseased or troubled person and the divine love before. The healer/s job is to get out of the way and be a conduit. Often, if you will observe a Reiki healer, he or she will appear to stop and watch or listen for signs of what to do next, from a silent voice.

Traditionally, the healer is taught a set of hand positions that are postured over the sick or troubled person’s body. These sometimes look like the Reiki master is giving the person a massage from mid hair. The Reiki Practitioner will occasionally make scooping or actions like he is smoothing a bedspread. This is all part of his intent to intuitively correct energy imbalances in your aura. Some healers will also place their hands directly on a sick or ill part of a body and keep them there as long as necessary.

Reiki can also be used to still emotional storms as well as heal relationships. This is done by correcting the subtle energies of what is known as the “orgone body”, “electromagnetic field” or the aura. Often, hands are passed through the air, once again, removing blocks and negative entities or thought forms from the person’s force field.

Reiki is also used to heal individuals at a distance. This is also called “remote healing”. Although it is not always necessary, the Reiki healer will ask for an object or create an object that represents the ill person. Treating the object is thought to also treat the person at a long distance away.

Some very talented Reiki masters have also been known to heal objects such as cars, computers and traffic jams. The idea is to act as a vessel and send the situation light so that it will correct itself.

In a way, Reiki is also about breaking bad patterns. The great sages always despise anything too habitual as it is thought to cause stagnation and disease. Good interference from a well trained Reiki master or light worker is thought to break these patterns and allow fresh energy to trigger the process of healing.

Hidden Persuasion - Using Subliminal Messages In Language

Chances are that somewhere, at some time, you have encountered someone who has used covert persuasion on you. Although this approach usually applies to advertising it is also used in speech. Do you know that you can embed subliminal messages in your spoken sentences that can act as commands that will be subconsciously registered and followed by the listener?



Throughout the centuries there have been men and women who had the natural ability to spur others into action just through their words. Great orators such as Winston Churchill and Abraham Lincoln were able to rally ordinary people to do great things. Placing subliminal messages into language was first attempted with hypnosis and the best way to explain how to do it is to take a hypnotic example. A hypnotist might say something like, "you may find that you want to Relax or just rest and maybe even close your eyes or just keep them open if you want to".



This spoken sentence does not appear to have any hidden meaning or subliminal messages at first. However, when the hypnotist uses hypnotic language to say exactly the same thing he changes this sentence into one with 2 hidden subliminal messages embedded in it!



It all begins with the tone of voice the hypnotist uses. It seems as though he is offering his subject a choice i.e. that the subject can Relax and close his eyes only if he wants to. However, he has only given the subject two choices - he can either relax or rest. There is no choice to stay active and alert! This is simple psychological trick of giving a person only two choices, both of which suite your needs. This approach is powerful in and of itself but it's the hidden subliminal messages that really pack the needed punch.



Certain words in the above mentioned sentence can be turned into subliminal messages simply by changing your tone. Although, if it's done correctly, the other person will never realize what it is happening the subconscious mind hears it and acts on it as though it were a command!



By using subliminal messages in your spoken words you hypnotize the other person with your commands. In the above example the hypnotist says the sentence in a very specific way!



Instead of just saying it in a normal manner he divides the sentence into breaks with different tones. Using a slow and melodic tone he says "you may find that" and then takes a longer than usual break between the words, slightly changes his tone and says with only slightly more emphasis, "You Want To Relax". He will then take another longer than usual break before continuing in a slow and melodic tone saying "or just rest and maybe even", then he takes another break, changes his tone slightly saying "Close Your Eyes" before another slight break before finishing the sentence.



Please be aware that you must be subtle in the use of subliminal messages in language! The breaks between the words are 1 second longer than normal and the tone you use is only slightly more authoritative in nature!



So test it out in situations that are unimportant to you until you have fully mastered this subliminal messages technique.

The third eye, also known as the sixth or Agya Chakra, is said to be the Chakra for higher spiritual intuition and the one responsible for development of psychic powers such as telepathy and astral travel.
